DIGEST LIFE
Something happens
— a conversation, a headline, a look across the table — and before you've registered what you actually felt, you're already in the story about it. The reaction is practiced, familiar, fast. Most of us live almost entirely in that speed.
Digest Life is slower work. It is built around a simple but demanding premise: that the body knows what is happening before the mind has named it, and that most of what we call our inner life is actually interpretation layered over sensation. Learning to find the gap between the two — to stay there long enough to get curious, to choose — is a skill. It can be cultivated.
We work with the seasons because the seasons are not a backdrop. They are the content. Each one carries its own qualities — in the body, in the emotional field, in what wants to move and what wants to rest — and we are already living inside them whether we know it or not. These cycles occur at every scale: in a day, in a project, in a life. The plants that appear here are seasonal allies — one of the languages a season speaks — as much teachers as remedies.
Over the course of a season, people tend to slow down and find they can bear it. They begin to notice their own internal dialogue: how it shapes their mood, their symptoms, their encounters with other people and with the news and with their own body in the morning. Senses sharpen. Discomfort becomes less of an emergency. Life begins to function less like a problem to be solved and more like a meditation — not the sit-on-a-cushion kind, but (in the words of one of my teachers) the kind that happens once you stand up.
This is not therapy, not coaching, not mentorship — though it may touch all three. It is accompaniment toward a particular kind of literacy: the ability to read what is actually happening before interpretation colonizes it.
Digest Life includes three 60-minute sessions over one season (three months), $675, renewable seasonally. It is available to people who have worked with me clinically or attended a retreat and want to continue, and to anyone drawn to this way of seeing who wants a guide. People who stay with this work over time often move into longer-term stewardship — two substantive visits a year, timed to seasonal turns, with access between them for what comes up.
Optional add-on: For those who want clinical eyes on something specific, a single 60-minute intake can be added for $225, with any follow-up woven into the seasonal sessions.
